The Oversight Committee has the target to abate the Air and Water Pollution by overseeing closing of the Industries operating illegally and other illegal activities which are engaged in creating Air and Water Pollution in violation of Environmental Norms or taking such other necessary measures.

Overview of the Oversight Committee:

Oversight Committee was constituted by Hon’ble National Green Tribunal vide its order dated 24.01.2019 passed in Original Application No. 601/2018 titled as MayankManohar&Paras Singh, Reporter versus Govt. of NCT of Delhi & Ors. The said matter deals with the issue of closure of impermissible industries operating in residential/non-conforming areas of Delhi.

The Mandate of the Committee is take stock of the extent of violation of law and to prepare a time bound action plan to deal with the problem in such phases as may be determined. The Committee has framework for implementation and adopting a comprehensive, integrated and inclusive strategy, with measurable indicators of progress and success. The statutory authorities like Municipal Corporations of Delhi, Industries Department, DSIIDC, Revenue Department, NGOs and Delhi Pollution Control Committee to report their progress to the Oversight Committee.
