Observation of World Hearing Day 2025
World Hearing Day was observed on 3rd March 2025 in collaboration with Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. The event focused on raising awareness about Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and promoting safe listening practices, especially among vulnerable populations such as children, adolescents, and workers in high-noise environments
To mark the occasion, IEC materials emphasizing preventive strategies and early intervention for hearing loss were officially launched by the Central Health Education Bureau (CHEB) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). These materials aim to disseminate key messages on hearing conservation, responsible use of personal audio devices, and the importance of regular hearing screening.
In addition to the national-level observance, States and Union Territories actively participated in World Hearing Day 2025 by organizing a range of activities aimed at promoting hearing health. These included the conduct of hearing screening camps at various health facilities and community locations, undertook extensive awareness generation activities, such as community outreach programs, school-based education sessions, and dissemination of IEC materials, to sensitize the public about the causes, prevention, and management of hearing impairment.
The event served as a platform for sensitizing the public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the rising burden of NIHL and the urgent need for proactive measures to safeguard hearing health across all age group
